The Mission of Neil Avenue Baptist Church
The members of Neil Avenue Baptist Church are committed to being "516 Christians." A
516 Christian is a follower and disciple of Jesus, who has accepted Jesus as
his or her Lord and Savior and who is committed to the teaching of Jesus from The Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus says,
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they
may see your good works, and
glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Jesus commanded his followers to obey two things. If we
love Jesus, we will keep these commandment (
John
14:21). These commandments are (1) to love the Lord our God with all
our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and (2) to love our neighbor as ourselves
(
Matthew 22:37-40;
Mark 12:29-31). The corollary to this is that we will
treat others as we ourselves want to be treated (
Matthew 7:12).
At Neil Avenue Baptist Church, we are committed to loving
you, whoever you are, just as you are, without conditions. In other
words, we will love you as Jesus loves us, and we commit ourselves to helping
you feel our love for you at all times in all situations.
